Review :

The Look of Love is the first in one of the most popular contemporary series around, The Sullivan series, and follows seven brothers and sisters on their journey to love and explores the close bond the family has. The first book tells the story of Chase, a professional photographer who happens to be on his way to his latest photo shoot at brother’s Marcus’s winery after leaving the matriarch of the family his mother’s seventieth birthday.

When the weather turns bad and he happens to find a car stuck in an embankment and a woman walking in the bad weather, he does the gentlemanly thing and rescues the driver, Chloe Peterson, who seems hurt and injured but her injuries don’t seem to be from the accident. Chloe is scared, she thought she got away from a bad relationship with handsome rich guys who promise everything and she is too shaken to comprehend her situation at the moment. She’s already picked up the pieces once and now everything has came tumbling down again. Chase sweeps her up and a tale of romance is born that is sweet, full of discovery, love that is instant and may turn you off if you aren’t an instant love fan like me because Chloe has been waiting her whole life for someone like Chase to come along.

Chase is a handsome guy who secretly wants his own family and is looking for the girl who can make this possible. He is nothing like most of the other boys in his family who are known as playboys and like a bit of fun. From the get-go, we get his point of view on his family and the fact his mother has made it no secret she wants her children to settle down and give her grandchildren so she will have someone to spoil again. But it seems none of her children are ready, except Marcus, her oldest. Chase wishes that he were in the same boat. He doesn’t think that he will find anyone soon so he decides to break his rule and sleep with Marcus’ manager Ellen to get rid of some of his sexual tension. Chloe’s appearance changes everything and you see why many people have fallen for this family.

Chase Sullivan drops everything in his track for love and you wish it could be you on the receiving end. He incorporates Chloe into the photo shoot and secondary characters are nicely woven in to bring another element to the story and their relationship. Chloe Peterson doesn’t see it coming when she reluctantly agrees to come and stay the night when the weather is bad and gets immediately drawn into this family. Now I understand why so many love this series. You are instantly connected with the characters because of the way author uses her voice. 4 couples

Finding My Way (Finding My Way #1) by Megan Keith

Rebecca Shultz has always known she was adopted. She couldn’t have chosen better parents than the ones that chose her. They’ve always made her feel loved and she’s never wanted for anything—except knowing why she was given up in the first place. Until she finds those answers, Rebecca feels as though she’s stuck in her past.

In the hopes of finding those answers, she accepts a job hundreds of miles away from the only home she’s ever known. However, not everyone is happy about her arrival. Someone wants her to give up the search and go back to her small town.

What Rebecca didn’t expect to find was Ryan Thomas. No one understands the attractive ad executive the way Rebecca does. He would rather spend his free time playing baseball with the kids in the same group home where he once lived than spend it with anyone that wants to take him away from there. Rebecca understands that these kids deserve a chance. Will Ryan be able to convince her to take one with him?

With Ryan distracting Rebecca with feelings she’s never felt before, roadblocks popping up that keep her from the answers to her past, and someone desperately trying to get her to leave, will she give up before her questions are answered? Will she stay and fight to find the truth? Or will she find that she already has everything she ever needed and that home can be anywhere you want it to be?

Review :

Before I give you my opinion on this book, I must make a point clear. I was a beta reader for this book. I read the copy before the paperback release, which has been revised and therefore this review is based on the beta copy. That being said, there were no changes to the story as far I know, only grammatical changes.

Finding My Way is the first novel from Megan Keith. It tells the story of a young woman who is completely lost in her personal and professional life and only started to realise the extent of it after a break up that happened eleven months ago. Emma is full of regrets, she wishes she went to university instead of going straight into the workforce and breaking up with her supposed soul mate Josh. She finds herself in a rut because her best friend Kat is getting married and the whole old gang is brought back together for wedding, continually reminding her of Josh and what happened, the good and the bad.

Then she hears that Josh has been dating someone else and it’s the final straw, Emma decides to move on, to the relief of Kat. There is a marked difference in Emma that is noted by two very attractive men, Seth and Nick, who see a beautiful woman they each want distinctly different things from.

Seth is a co-worker and embodies everything that Emma wants to achieve professionally. He went to university and is now on the verge of his dream job in the IT field. He is biding his time until he gets the call that a spot is open. His personal life is a mess; his younger sister is having nightmares and his best friends/roommates are acting up. One roommate is addicted to playing games and the other roommate is never home and when he is, acts very quiet and is unwilling to share where he disappears to. Seth wants to change his situation and decides he will move out and find a partner and thinks that Emma is perfect. However she does not seem to notice him until Seth makes his intentions clear. Unfortunately, Emma is involved with another guy who is his polar opposite and only offers want she needs for now. A rebound relationship cannot be a long term relationship.

Nick is in his late twenties and never wanted to go to university. He wanted to become a DJ and he is on his way to becoming a well-known one. However, he has to pay the bills and works at a newspaper stand in the train station. His Greek father disagrees with his son’s path and wishes that he was more like his best friend Dan who went to university to become an accountant. Nick is a manwhore—putting it lightly. He notices the ladies and they notice him and he’s willing to help them when they are pretty. When Emma smiles at him while thinking about Seth as she arrives at the train station to buy a ticket, everything changes.

Three point of views, two guys, one girl, and one common story; it’s only just the beginning and I want the next book now. Write faster, Megan! I love the setting, the places used, and the characters. Each of them have hit a crossroad and while this is Emma’s book, the guys and the other secondary characters are not bystanders. Each of them provides input to the main problem and in the end we get a wonderful debut book from author who has become a personal favourite of mine.

Review :

Coming Home is the story that made me fall in love again with romantic suspense stories. I have tended to stay away from these recently as I have overly fond memories of those child and teen ones and never found a romantic suspense that made me do this …

Make a video trailer and send it to the author!

This is something totally out of my comfort zone and something I never would have thought I would be doing when I started blogging last year. This book is sweet but at the same time creepy. The way this book is written you would never expected the way things turn out. Last time I reviewed a suspense book I could definitely guess who was one of the bad guys. Well, this one I couldn’t. I was reading and thinking ‘ohh maybe it is this person’ or ‘wait could it be this person?’ plus I wasn’t expecting a strong romantic element here. I was expecting a sweet story about falling in love and finding yourself. Yes, we did get that but this book become is something different and interesting with a romantic element thrown in.

Rebecca wants to find her birth parents. She can’t remember anything before she was four and adopted by her parents. She has loving parents and she is very close to her mum who understands that she needs to find the truth since she can’t remember anything and was adopted as so late an age. So when she is given the opportunity to move to Dallas for a job as a graphic designer, she takes it, despite knowing that Matt, her new boss, appears to be hiding something.  When she gets there everything is different and it’s at this juncture that the story takes on a different edge as mentioned above concerning the romantic element. Every successive chapter has little hints and this is why I loved the book. The kind of storytelling the author employs leaves a bread trail leading us up to the end of the book where everything comes to light.

I can’t stop fangirling over this book because B.L. Mooney has taken a cliché and used her writing skills to create a refreshing take on a story with a different angle and elements.

 Author Bio

B.L. Mooney started writing when the voices and storylines in her head ran out of room. They were getting too cramped and neither B.L. nor the characters could take it anymore, so she did the only thing she could do—she made room. She always knew she wanted to write, but vowed to make time for it later. Now that she’s made time for writing, most everything else falls to the wayside. That seems to suit the characters that keep popping up just fine. B.L. lives in the Midwest and her other talents include in-demand cookies, a very dry sense of humor, and stealth eavesdropping. Some mannerisms, attitudes, or twists come from random sentences picked up while passing by strangers. So speak up the next time you have something to gossip about. You never know, it may just end up on the pages of the next book you read

Dolce Amore

. She doesn’t want to have her image of him destroyed if he is not like she pictures him.

Lohonas was the guy she adored. Funny, smart, and always willing to help out. She’d met him her first week playing and had actually been the one to suggest raiding with his guild just so she could talk to him more. He’d been the one holding her virtual hand when Aaron cheated. Granted, he didn’t know what exactly had her so upset, but he’d taken her on an ice giant hunt that led her to places in the game world she’d never been before. Hell, she hadn’t known a couple of the caves existed. And while they fought monsters, they bantered like they’d been friends forever. If there was one person in the entire game she wished she knew in real life, it was Lohonas.

She really, really liked Lohonas and dreaded the idea that the guy behind the avatar could be a massive jerk. The relationship they had in-game was fantastic and not worth ruining with too much reality. She’d cling to their banter and history instead.

But then she decides to give it a shot. If it is possible to meet him at ConDamned, a convention for a mishmash of games, comics, books and movies, so be it.

I loved the conversation between her and Lahonas, it’s flirty and fun. I also totally understand her doubts over meeting him for real. There are plenty of jerks with fake identities and worse: you never know what you might discover.

Cal Burrows is a spy working for TRAIT. He is not a field operative because he can’t handle violent situations, or the way he handles them is way too good.

When his mind and body went into attack mode, he became blinded to everything but taking out his target.

He is ready to try to find the woman who claimed his attention while gaming, but then his boss informs him that in the same convention, there might be danger. Takamaki, a weapons maker, is going to try out a new weapon and sell it at the same time!

Damn, I loved Cal and Pen’s first meeting in the elevator, and I ADORED Cal’s thoughts about her. Here is a sample (and go run to buy the book so you could read it all):

“Penelope Holloway. The badge should say Pen, though.”

Penelope Holloway. Penelope Holloway. He could remember that until he got upstairs. Then it would only take a few minutes to track down her cell number and…

What was he doing? Did he think he could just call her later? And say what? Hi, this is the guy you were in the elevator with. I hope you don’t mind, but I used my government contacts to get your phone number so I could call and see if you wanted to get a drink. Oh yeah, because that didn’t scream stalker. He was being stupid—he should just ask.

Too bad when he dragged himself from his musings, Penelope of the epic-levels-of-cuteness was gone. And in this crowd, he might never find her again.

Damn. To stalk or not to stalk?

Who was he kidding? There was no question—he was definitely going to end up stalking … at least a little.

When Pen meets who she thinks is Lohonas, she can’t believe he’s such a jerk, but when she gets to know Cal she realizes he is the real Lahonas and he is a real hero, in real life too.

Takamaki chooses that moment to test his gas and Pen is the only person Cal can clearly see once he is in the zone kill or die.

I loved IT!!! And I can hardly wait to read the next book about TRAIT’s members!!! Seleste, you created a wonderful book, and you got a new fan.

Today we have as our guest the wonderful author Seleste deLaney to talk about her latest release, Gaming for Keeps, and she does not come empty handed. She’s brought backup … her main characters from the book, Pen Holloway and Cal Burrows are with her! I had a great time reading the book so it’s a pleasure having you all here. I can’t wait to start the interview.

The first question is for Seleste, and it’s one I wanted to ask since I read the plot: Seleste, what gave you the idea of mixing gaming with the spy world? Did you know it would work so well together from the start?

I love spy stories. LOVE. I was a major Alias freak, even when it kind of went off the deep end. And then there was Chuck—oh how I loved that show. Human Target, The Finder (okay, he wasn’t really a spy, but he was quirky as hell). James Bond, Jason Bourne, Aaron Cross… the list could go on and on. But I found the idea of a straight romantic suspense daunting, so I shelved that love for a long time. Then the call for the Geek Collection came out, and I knew I wanted to do something related to gaming (and include my old EQ guild in it—Shout out to the Wallers! <3 ). So I started with the gaming and then realized I didn’t want this to be just standard boy-meet-girl fare. My guildies were awesome, fun, ridiculous people and I wanted to show that beyond the confines of a game. Somehow that got me thinking about all those shows I loved and the geeky characters in them, and I was sold. It just became an issue of making my super-secret-spy-agency something a little different. I hope I succeeded ;-)

The second question is for Cal: Tell us about what happens when you go to your “world of madness and violence and blood”? When it’s just you and your targets? What’s it like in your head in those moments?

Wow. You like to go right for the hot buttons, don’t you? Basically imagine being in your body but it moving like a machine that you can’t really control. Your mission is to take out the opposition by whatever means necessary. It’s a loss of conscious thought, a loss of conscience—or at least it was before Marron started working with me. I was slightly more aware after our training sessions. And Pen… well, you know what happened there. She’s the light at the end of a very dark tunnel for me.

Now, for Pen: Do you regret meeting Lohonas in person and discovering he was a spy? That your decision to meet him took you into a dangerous situation and you were close to be killed?

First… *blows kisses to Cal*  Okay, now that that’s out of the way… Are you kidding me?  I’d love to say that danger’s my middle name, but that’d be a lie. As for meeting Lohonas and being yanked into his world? A little nervousness from time to time, but no regrets. Ever.

Another one for Seleste: How much time do you need for your research? Will you play again now that the book is finished, or will gaming for you end now?

That depends a lot on what I’m researching. I used to play Everquest like it was as essential to my life as air, so the gaming research consisted of re-installing the basic version of the game and remembering how chat worked LOL. I have a couple go-to-guys for gun stuff, so the research there basically consists of me sending an email and praying I don’t sound like an idiot (and that they aren’t out on maneuvers or something and can actually get back to me 😛 Same with computer stuff. I have a couple people who are far more knowledgeable than I (which means they not only know what that doohickey does, they also know the proper name for it). One of the research bits I got to do for this book was watching Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol (on orders from my editor). Considering how much I adore Jeremy Renner, it was research I was more than happy to dive head first into. There were other bits and pieces, some that took longer than others. And fortunately, there were certain things that I had experience with and didn’t have to research very much J

For Cal: What’s the memory of Pen you like most and what are your plans for the future?

When she kissed me the first time. I should have recognized her in that instant, but like a fool, I’d been focused on the moment instead of the bigger picture. But the way she just let go of everything…it’s a way I think a lot of people (me included) wish we could live all the time. In the future I plan to not die a, how did she put it, “stupid, pointless death that would leave her to plunge into danger all alone in an effort to re-connect with me.” Needless to say, I told her to stop reading the book she was working on at the time. I still plan to stay alive to spend my life with her, but damn that’s a lot to shove on a guy’s shoulders when he’s still trying to get a handle on his little breaks with reality.

For Pen: What kiss of Cal’s do you keep closest to your heart? Where and when did it occur and what did it make you feel?

The first kiss after all the secrets were gone. That happened in his hotel room after he saved the world 😉 As for how it made me feel… Like my world had turned upside down and inside out, like time had ceased to have meaning, and like that new reality was more beautiful than anything I’d ever read about or imagined. Then the gas wore off. *ducks* Kidding!

The last question is for Seleste: Will there be another book of this type? And what can you share with us about your plans for the future?

I have another book featuring TRAIT in the works, as well as plans for several more. I just need the people in charge to want more as much as I do! 😉 As for coming soon… I have the first of my books for Entangled’s Brazen line (Seducing the Enemy) coming this fall. And the second book in my Blood Kissed urban fantasy series with Mundania (Kiss of Life) coming before the end of the year too. Beyond that it depends on my ability to get things done and schedules lining up. Up next on my writing agenda is the third book in the Badlands steampunk romance series with Carina (book 3 doesn’t have a title yet…sorry)

Thanks for coming; I am thrilled I had the opportunity of asking the questions I desired.

Two series coming soon from Entangled Publishing!

My steampunk romance series is from Carina Press: BADLANDS and CLOCKWORK MAFIA (coming April 2013).

The Blood Kissed novels (KISS OF DEATH and, coming soon, KISS OF LIFE) are available from Mundania Press.

The short stories that begin the Blood Kissed series (OF COURSE I TRY and THE GHOST OF VAMPIRE PRESENT) are available at Decadent Publishing.

Collaring The Saber-Tooth (Masters Of The Cats #1) by Trinity Blacio

Book Blurb :

Light years away, the Tetraheros came together. Their creation, the Cometedgerace,is on the verge of extinction, even with the female companions provided to them throughout the years. Meanwhile one lone rogue has tried to wipe out the feline shifter population on Earth.  There was only one solution: The Cometedge Pact. Three warriors are bound to every female, connecting two separate races through a sense of duty, blood, sex, and love.

Maya Saber is a saber tooth tiger on a mission. Her mission is to find, rescue, and offer shelter to any female feline shifter in trouble. Some of those she has rescued she has brought into her family and treats them like they are sisters. When Maya was younger, she watched as her whole family was brutally murdered and she was taken captive and raped and beaten. Now she is out for revenge and she wants the man who destroyed her family to die by her hand. What she she doesn’t know is that the man she believes killed her family was dead long before her family was butchered. Maya is shocked to discover that she has not one mate but three and all three are Cometedge warriors who want to wrap her in cotton and keep her safe.

Akaos Featherstone is a Cometedge who is very powerful and he, too, is on a mission: he wishes to find and kill the man who is misusing his gifts and creating havoc on Earth. Akaos has tracked him to Earth, now he just has to find him—something that should be fairly easy for one with his powers but things become a whole lot more complicated when he discovers his mate torn between protecting a mate who doesn’t believe she needs his protection and finding and killing the man his mate has sworn to see die at her own hand.

Trinity Blacio has long been a favorite of mine her Running In Fear series was phenomenal and I foresee this story being huge too.

The chemistry between Maya and Akaos was sizzling. Warden needs Maya to accept him possibly more than either Akaos or Tesuss and he has a lot of trouble controlling his possessiveness around her, which is a big turn off for Maya. The last thing she needs is not one but three dominant males in her life trying to stop her from getting her revenge. When the men offer to take down her enemy for her , it just makes her mad as she is strong willed and independent in her own right. However, when her enemy is revealed to be a lot more than she bargained for, she accepts the help of her mates but makes them promise not to expect her to totally back down.

I loved this book; it has enough shifters and vampires to thrill any paranormal reader and those of us that loved Running in Fear will no doubt follow this series with the same passion. For me, the plot started a little slow and I really didn’t get fully engrossed until the third chapter but as soon as I was hooked I was really hooked and couldn’t put my ereader down till I was done. Now I’m waiting for book two, so here’s hoping Ms. Blacio writes fast as I’ve got a feeling that Maya’s daughter Dee is about to give her mates a run for their money in book two.

Chet Castle is a businessman who has everything, except the ability to trust. Burned by a money-hungry fiancée, he refuses to get involved in any relationship that has a shelf life longer than a head of lettuce.

Intrigued by her ambition—and determined to get her in bed—Chet offers Jill the chance of a lifetime: work as his live-in chef and he’ll help her get her catering business off the ground. When sparks fly in the kitchen, Jill realizes what’s cooking is a recipe for disaster…

Dolce Amore

A year ago, Jill Adgate had a great life. She was a sous-chef and she had fifteen months under her belt working for Creations. However, at a party she was left to lead on, she crushed the birthday cake by error on a good looking man she was attracted to and with whom she shared a passionate kiss later. And both things got her fired.

Now she finally knows the name of that man and she was dating him! Her best friend set everything up because Chet Castle is her fiancé’s brother. Although the date had a good start it ended badly because Chet thinks she came just to ask him for money to start her own catering business, and he had her checked out with his head of security.

It wasn’t like I had grandiose plans of liquoring you up and flying to Vegas to get married by Elvis so I could have access to your bank accounts.

After being screwed by Gina, his money-hungry ex, Chet is not sure if he can trust Jill. But he wants her, so he proposes she stay at his house for the two months during the annual meetings of several charities he works with to organize the menus, cater the dinners, and keep all the events on track. In exchange, he’ll cosign a loan for her.

The first morning, Jill hears what he thinks of the women and about her, while Chet is talking with his brother on the phone.

“You know I only have two uses for women, and both of them require a bed.” “A romp between the sheets for sure.” “Now that I have a woman chef, I have three uses.”

To teach Chet a lesson, Jill makes for dinner the Bachelor’s Special: chunky peanut butter with grape jelly spread between two slices of day-old bread and a side of chips. He plays dirty and Jill ends up wearing on her head the bowl with her award-winning soup and being kissed again.

Discovering that the phone conversation between Chet and Jared was a joke, she ends up confessing what happened in the past year since she was fired from Creations. After that, their relation turns into friendship while their attraction keeps growing.

If you add Chet’s ex and a possible pregnancy, you get the recipe for a disaster.

I liked the book and the only thing I can say against it is that I never managed to connect to the characters or the story. Yet I loved how Christine Warner expresses Jill’s feelings and emotions.

The characters are great, and Christine gave the story a bit a flavor using humor. BTW, the scene with catching popcorn is hilarious, but my lips are sealed. I’ll let you discover it.

Her sister knows her better and wants her to come to Jamaica for her wedding to the guy Avery has no clue existed until it was sprung on her. She needs a job asap as she wants to please her sister, despite knowing that her family doesn’t completely understand the reasons why she stays away from her hometown.

Avery bites her tongue and finds a job as an assistant to a professor who tempts her in all the wrong ways. Atticus, the professor, had a rough end to the semester. He discovered his wife Nikki cheated on him because she was bored when he came home to more than he expected finding her in bed with someone else. Moving into his friend Dane’s apartment, he worried. He needs to find a new research assistant since Nikki was the assistant and he does not want anything to do with her. So during one night of drunken fun, Dane posts an ad for him and he discovers the beautiful Avery who tempts him from the get-go and he hires her on the spot.

Avery is only in it for the money and starts applying for graduate school. She’s a strong woman who knows what she wants and the reaction to Atticus is mutual but she is careful. She managed to make it to the last year of college without having problems that would mess with her goals and this situation with Avery throws her a curveball and brings up memories of a past relationship that has haunted her for a number of years. It’s the reason why she hasn’t gone home and has mostly kept to her friends … friends that tell her to go for it as they know she needs someone to get over the past completely.

What starts as an innocent job is turning into a hot and steamy attraction that threatens to overtake their professional relationship and turn it into a personal one. The haunting reminder of their past relationships bring trouble and the issue of trust threatens to derail their relationship before it even begins. Add to the problem the fact that the people in Atticus’s life won’t let him get to know Avery as they are worried for him.

This naughty NA from Nazarea Andrew hit the mark for the overused cliché teacher/student romance, while technically not because Avery is not directly a student of his. It will leave you having dreams about a professor who is sweet and adorable and goes for what he wants. This book will surprise you if you aren’t prepared. Get ready for a summer at the University of Branton where things are really heating up.

My only regret with this book is that I didn’t read it in one night. I wasn’t in the mood to read and put it down for the night instead of following it avidly. It was the right pick-me-up for me as it was a NA that had a sexual undertone more expected in the Contemporary MF.

No one calls me. Nik used to, but her calls ended months ago. My sister emails me; the only time my phone rings is when Dane is checking on me. But he’s here, so what the hell?

My phone rings again, a different number.

I answer it. “Who is this?”

“I’m calling about the job you listed on Craigslist.”

The girl’s voice is like warm scotch, sliding around me with just the hint of a bite, and even in the midst of my hangover, I can’t help the surge of interest. Then her words make it through the Jaeger induced fog and I groan.

“I’m going to kill Dane.” I mutter.

“Excuse me?” She sounds startled and a little amused, and I flush.

“Look, sweetheart, my roommate is being a dick. I’m sorry.”

“You don’t need a research assistant? Because I’m actually really good at this and I have better qualifications than most people.”

Her voice. God, it’s too early—that has to be part of the reason I’m getting aroused just listening to her talk. “What kind of qualifications?”

“I’m a double major—history, with a specialty in ancient civilizations, and secondary education. I planned on spending the summer researching graduate schools.”

“You should stick with that,” I advise.

“Can’t. And I don’t really want to spend the summer waiting tables—although I will.”

There’s something about her voice that makes me think she’s telling the truth. And it tells me something about her: she’s serious. There’s a work ethic I don’t often see in undergraduates, and it makes me pause.

“I’m sorry,” she says, sounding frazzled—I can hear a male voice in the background—and music and laughter. “You said it’s not really a position. I’ll let you go. Get back to your morning.”

“Wait,” I say, startling both of us into silence. What the hell am I doing? “How about you meet me, and we’ll talk. It can’t hurt, right?”

She hesitates, and then, “Look, I’m not trying to do a job that doesn’t exist. I appreciate it, though.”

“Coffee. Please. Just to talk about it.”

“Ok,” she says, reluctance clear in her tone. “Hill of Beans at five?”

I nod. “I’ll see you then.”

We hang up, and I stare at my phone. What the hell am I doing?

Famously Engaged by Robyn Thomas

A chef and a rock star. They couldn’t be from more different worlds…

Rock star royalty’s favorite son, Jake Olsen, couldn’t help but interfere after listening to his future brother-in-law talk non-stop about his ex-wife, Beth Carlisle. Jake decides that the only way to get the groom’s mind off his ex-wife is to give her a fake fiancé.

Before Jake can convince Beth of his plan, he’s forced to move in with her to avoid the paparazzi. Their instant attraction makes for a sizzling “first date”, but soon Jake’s fame gets in the way and Beth wants out. Too bad Jake’s figured out just why her ex is so obsessed with her, and he’s afraid he’s not going to be able to give her up either.

Now it’s up to Jake to convince this chef together they make the perfect recipe.

Dolce Amore

Jake Olsen, a famous rock star, knows he has a half-sister, Skyla, and knows who she is, but he fears telling her about him. However, having her working for his rock band, he can (and does) interfere in her life. Having her fiancé, Brad, spend almost all his free time with his ex-wife Beth calls for some major interfering—especially after being informed by Skyla that Brad wants to move in with Beth to help her with her sick mother. Although Skyla swears Beth turned into a great friend for her too and that Beth divorced Brad because she wasn’t in love with him, he needs to make sure Beth and Brad won’t meet until after the wedding.

Ok, I’m asking myself … if a man is still in love with his ex, like Jake thinks Brad is, why not try to find out if it’s true?  It’s better discovering this kind of thing before the wedding, than after, because things could get a lot more complicated. So, in my opinion, his plan to keep apart Beth and Brad until the wedding is all wrong.

Jake decides to give Beth a fiancé of her own, so he makes up a story for their fake engagement and appears at Beth’s door during the night. The scene where he informs her of what will soon happen is unreal. Beth doesn’t respond like a normal woman would when discovering the truth of what he’s done (like throwing him out and closing her door in his face!) and she forgives him too easily, especially since she has to deal with her mother’s death as well.

The changes that their fake relationship brings to Beth’s life are great and she cracks under the pressure, and although Beth knows Jake probably loves her, she leaves him.

I can’t say I liked it too much. I found the storyline a bit crazy, not real enough for my taste. Maybe I would have liked it more if the characters would have been deeper and more real. 2 couples

Consquences By Aleatha Roming Blog Tour

Consequences Blog Tour BannerConsequences Cover

Today I have the pleasure of welcoming Aleatha Roming and she brought lot of exciting titbits regarding consequences. I got the dreamcast, playlist ,interview and maybe even a giveaway. –

Besieged by memories of a brutal abduction, Claire Nichols wakes in an unfamiliar bedroom, within a luxurious mansion. Her recollections have one common denominator, the man she just met, Anthony Rawlings.
Unbeknownst to Claire, for a very long time, she has been within Anthony’s sights. Many of the pivotal events in her life occurred, due to his sinister manipulation. Every action has a consequence, and his actions result in their chance meeting.

More than a psychological thriller, Consequences is a vivid story of one woman’s struggle to survive incomprehensible circumstances. Every aspect of her being suddenly depends upon the tall, wealthy, dark haired, dark eyed businessman. Anthony Rawlings is known to the world as prosperous, benevolent, and kind. Claire quickly learns that he can also be a menacing controlling captor.

With few options but concession, Claire attempts to earn her freedom, while enduring a hellish existence that truly appears perfect. Persevering tests and trials, she struggles to retain her pure Midwest values and beliefs. Encouraged by memories of a loving upbringing, she gains strength in the simplest of joys: solitude in nature and good in the face of evil.

His goal in sight, Anthony’s calculated agenda encounters an unforeseen detour. He becomes captivated by Claire’s beauty, resilience, and determination. The interaction of these two compelling characters instigates strong emotions: fear, anger, love, and lust. Claire and Anthony’s tumultuous journey flows into uncharted waters of intrigue and passion.

Utilizing vivid detail, this 167,000-word novel unfolds like a movie, before the eyes of its readers. From the opening criminal abduction, through twists and turns, to the unlikely romantic thrills, the suspense climaxes as Anthony’s motivation becomes evident.

Anthony and Claire must decide if they will stay true to one another, or allow preceding actions to result in justifiable Consequences.

Today we would like to welcome the fantastic Aleatha Romig to the blog!  Thanks so much for being here today!

What inspired you to write Consequences?

I’d always wanted to write a book.  It was a bucket list type thing.  In 2008 my husband lost his job, it was in construction materials and the economy tanked! He began working a third shift job.  Our two oldest children were off in college.  Our youngest was going to bed about 8:30.  That left a lot of alone time.

I had this idea of a woman in a room… I decided to sit down and see where the story would take me.  I didn’t write Consequences to publish.  I wrote Consequences as therapy or escape from my life.  I could totally manipulate and control the lives of these characters.  It was more than I could do for myself.

Do you have a specific writing style?

I think I do.  I think I have a certain flow and sentence structure.  Beyond that, I need to know where I’m going.  For all of my books, I’ve written the beginning and the end.  Then I let the middle fill itself in.  I’ve tried to write without knowing the end, it doesn’t work.  The fun part is letting the characters and story dictate the middle!

What author has influenced you the most?

I belong to the Indiana Romance Writers Association.  In our local chapter there are many talented writers, and I’ve learned and been influenced by these woman in many ways.  Most of them have much more experience than I.  Their willingness to share and encourage has been invaluable.

In a long distance, no direct influence kind of way, I will say E.L. James.  Not because I found Fifty Shades amazing… it was good.  But, she opened the door to “different books” hitting the mainstream.  Consequences Series isn’t erotic; however, it is dark.  I breach subjects that previously were taboo.  I’m not sure that my series would have received the acceptance it has, pre Fifty Shades.

What book are you reading now?

When I’m really into my writing, I don’t read.  However, I asked to read an ARC of Safe Word by Teresa Mummert. So far… fun and HOT!

What current project are you working on?

I’m writing Convicted, the third and final of my Consequences Series. I’m over 2/3’s  through.  Although it isn’t done I do know how it ends.

What was the hardest part of writing Consequences?

The hardest part was deciding how much detail to put in my manuscript. My original draft had more detail.  It was so disturbing to my mother and sister-in-law that they couldn’t read the story.  So, I decided to employ more of the “fade to black” technique.  Honestly, I still have people who think my reading is too disturbing and others who want more detail.  I’ve come to the conclusion; you can’t please everyone – so please yourself.

How did you come up with the storyline for Consequences?

I had the “vision” or “thought” of the opening scene.  I didn’t know any more, but wanted to learn more.  That’s how it started…

Are you getting many invoices for your readers’ therapy for completely messing with their mind? Ha ha ok that was only a joke! But what’s the craziest thing one of your readers has said about Consequences?

lol! No invoices because I don’t give out my address! I’ve been threatened! I think I could get some great “group” rates! There is a wonderful “Consequences Series Group Therapy and Hugs” group on  Goodreads! Once you’ve completed both Consequences and Truth (because there are many spoilers) I suggest you go visit!  There are 3 Tony POV’s on there, too.

I’ve received so many messages and had so many reviews, I can’t possibly zero in on one crazy thing! But, I will say, I’ve started laughing out loud while reading some of my readers’ comments! I’m so thankful my readers share their thoughts with me. It seems as though I evoke a little emotion!

Thank you for having me on your blog!  I’ve enjoyed it! ~Aleatha

Consequences Teaser #1

The fade into consciousness happened slowly like the melting of ice. The water was still present. It just changed form. Claire’s mind couldn’t process the entirety of her circumstance. She knew she was awakening, felt the warmth of soft sheets and a thick comforter against her skin, but it felt wrong. Where was she?

Suddenly, the ice became liquid and her veins filled with the cold, condensing fluid. Her heartbeat intensified as the poor muscle attempted to pump the viscous solution. The sting of her swollen eyelids brought back memories of her arrival to this place. She strained to listen, to hear anything. The only sound that registered was an incessant ringing within her ears. More with curiosity than courage, she cautiously opened her eyes. Peering around the room, she discovered that she was indeed alone. Momentary relief caused her chest to contract and a sigh to escape her lips.

Under other circumstances, she might relish the amazing softness of the silk sheets or the grandeur of the king-sized bed. Today, however, despite the warm cocoon, her body shivered as the fog of her mind cleared. The memories of the last previous night began to surface from the depths of her unconsciousness. Perhaps it had been nightmare. She tried to convince herself the memories weren’t real.

But then, how did she get here? And where was here?

Enormous windows, currently covered by golden drapes, allowed just enough sunlight for her eyes to adjust. For the first time since her arrival, she looked, really looked at her surroundings, seeing the four ornately carved corner posts of the bed. They were exquisite, and looking beyond, so was the room where it sat. The alluring bedroom looked larger and more lavish than any she had ever seen. The room looked like heaven, but she already knew it was hell.
