The past was pain.
The present unclear.
For Tyla Rand, her future couldn’t be bleaker. Death follows her everywhere, especially to those she loves. Being a member of the royal pack, she believes her time of happiness will come. That is, until wolves from her old pack show up missing. Her mission is to find them, but she won’t be going alone.
Sebastian Lyall, a true born royal and the one man Tyla loathes, has offered to help in her quest. Their journey not only brings out their true desires, but attracts the attention of another, someone from Tyla’s past. However, nothing is as it seems. Death is not done with her and now he wants her to pay. He won’t be satisfied until he’s taken everything away . . . including those she loves.
To say I have been waiting for this book is understatement . I have been literally counting down the days until this book came out as I wanted back in this world ASAP. The world and the concept that Dover has created has become one of my ultimate favourite worlds because of the uniqueness and the characters that live in this world . Whilst each book can be read standalone, once you read one of these books you definitely will be hooked if you love new adult paranormal. So read them in order!
In the second the book is focused on Tyla an alpha female who is afraid to love another man worried that she is cursed. Ever since she first fell in love , her love life has been cursed with death with every man she has loved died and now Tyla is resided herself to enjoying life. Until her worst fears come true when she discovers her true mate and everything is taken out of her hands.
A true mate is destiny and Tyla can fight all she likes but one way or another she going to fall in love whether she likes it or not . But whether the curse of death will wreak havoc is another story and whilst Tyla fights her feelings her mate fights to invade her heart and steal her love.
Sebastian Lyall is a royal protector who has been waiting for his true mate for years. Fighting the darkness, he managed to hold out until he discovered Tyla but her rejection isn’t helping his situation as he wants to be her protector and take her burdens. Burdens which stem from her family’s mysterious past.
A mysterious past which comes to alight when they area forced to work together to tackle the past head on when one of the only links to Tyla’s past Amelia her cousin reaches out . Thinking it is a simple mission they head out in the unknown with nothing certain or cemented in their relationship
Will they be able to rise to the challenge and leap into the unknown?
Dover didn’t disappoint with this second novel and there was plenty of action and few twists and turns that will leave you wondering what the heck just happened. If you think it going to simple storyline wrong. Dover weaving of two storylines tangled together gives plenty excitement as we watch the story unfold and become more complicated and intriguing.
Sebastian didn’t disappoint in any form. Knowing him from the previous book only show a certain sided to him and I love seeing him in a lover role. As a protector who do anything to protect his mate in the most macho way possible. As Tyla wasn’t exactly a pushover, she believed she was strong and she was . However she need to realise that relying on her own strength was never enough and whilst their road to happiness was never going to be perfect. Tyla need to relax a little bit and let Sebastian do what he was born for. It was slight nagging issue in otherwise a wonderful story.
I can’t wait for the third book and see where the Royal Shifters are heading with this ever involving story arch and world. I love how Dover connects her various series and I do hope this means what I think it does.
“Can I help you?” I asked, turning to face Sebastian Lyall.
His whitish-blond hair was perfectly coifed in messy spikes, his light blue, button down shirt matching the color of his eyes. The last thing I needed was to look into them. He’d had me tongue tied several times in the past and it ended up making me look like an idiot.
Smirking, Sebastian stepped closer, holding out a hand. “Would you care to dance?”
Rolling my eyes, I nodded toward the group of women in the corner who watched his every move. “Why don’t you ask one of your groupies? I’m sure they’d be more than willing.”
He and his brothers, Micah and Zayne, along with Colin, were hot commodities in our pack. They were all royal wolves—the elite. No female could resistthem, except me that is. I couldn’t complain though; the royals helped make our pack invincible.
Sebastian leaned closer, his gaze serious. “I asked you, Tyla Rand. Besides, there’s something I need to tell you.”
“Why do we have to dance in order for you to spill? Just say it now.”
Chuckling, he grabbed my hand and pulled me to the dance floor. “What’s the matter, afraid to be close to me? I promise I won’t bite.”
Right. Huffing, I reluctantly walked onto the dance floor just when the tempo changed to a slower, sensual beat. “You’ve got to be kidding me,” I growled. Other couples joined in and held each other, swaying to the music, while I stood there like a fool.
Grabbing my other hand, Sebastian pulled my arms around his shoulders and put his around my waist. “See? Not so bad.”
I glared up at him. “Just keep your hands from wandering. Now what do you want to talk about?” His hands snaked lower and I growled. “Keep it up and see where your hands end up next.”
Chuckling, he lifted them higher. “I like watching your cheeks blush. It’s sexy as hell.”

More family for Christmas?
Scott Walker doesn’t have time for a relationship. The sexy mechanic has career ambitions, not to mention a mother and three sisters to take care of. The last thing he needs is Carrie Jameson, the beauty he never forgot, arriving in Templeton Cove over the holidays with some unexpected news.
Scott still finds Carrie irresistible, and he’s not one to shirk responsibility. Scott’s issues with his own dad make the prospect of parenthood a minefield. But if he and Carrie can overcome their fears, this Christmas could bring them the best gift of all.
Nearly eleven months ago I read my first Rachel Brimble book which I liked but I wasn’t completely sold. However when I heard the premise of Christmas at the Cove, I decided to take the second chance on the author and discovered a tale perfect for these Holidays.
Who doesn’t like a good old Christmas story like the one that can be found between the pages of this book. A good feel story that we all need at this time of year and this book fits that mould perfectly.
Carrie our heroine has been keeping a secret for the last three years and is now returning to Templeton Cove to find Scott Walker. The man she had one night stand with, three years ago and is now returning to tell him something important. Something that she needs tell him that will change his life. She isn’t expecting her meeting to be with him to be easy and is preparing herself to be open to scorn from Scott.
However her arrival in town has gotten the community talking as Scott isn’t the man to have a woman come calling for him. As it is usually the other way around. Scott isn’t a playboy with no heart or anything. He is a man who trying to juggle everything on his plate and believes that he can’t settle down due his past and responsibilities. He is well liked by most despite his tendencies but he is holding a secret. There a woman who has stolen his heart to speak…
Carrie is the woman who got away and he hasn’t gotten over it exactly. The fact that she returned and reliving those memories he thought he had tucked away. His friends are worried and hope to send her own her way as Scott doesn’t need this.
However Carrie isn’t a pushover and is determined to deliver her message one way or another?
I love my trope books and this book has two of my favourites second chance romances and secret child/ren
I don’t if I would call this a second chance romance considering that it was only one night and they went their separate ways soon after but for the both of them it seemed it had an impact on their lives.
Carrie had her obligation that brought her back but it soon obvious that just only part of the reason why she came back as why she easily listening to Scott’s suggestions
As it obvious that Scott thought this girl was special and whilst the way author portrayed him was no surprise when it came to the news of his secret as he reacted the way I expected. As he may be willing to stand up, he is a fact man and understandable when you discover the reason why.
This Holiday tale will definitely tug on you heartstrings whilst providing a laugh or two . Whilst it may seem straight forward on paper, romances can be anything but and I loved how the author told the story . As we all know what small towns can be like and Templeton Cove was no expectation. And they threw plenty of hurdles that add something to the story and made these two stronger.
As with stories like this , I always hope there will be substantial plot that will make it believable that what they felt for each other after one night all those years was plausible as if you think about aside from the time apart and what tied them together they were only together for a few days.
But what a few days as Scott need to step up to the plate and realise what this news meant for him. As much I liked him, he was a slightly misguided soul, guided by his decisions to put family first at any cost.
It all honorable but at what cost when you have the woman of your dreams, offering something more?
Christmas at the Cove is a beautiful story that tackles some of the most important things about Christmas, family and relationships and perfect for these holidays
