Review:

Maya Saber is a saber tooth tiger on a mission. Her mission is to find, rescue, and offer shelter to any female feline shifter in trouble. Some of those she has rescued she has brought into her family and treats them like they are sisters. When Maya was younger, she watched as her whole family was brutally murdered and she was taken captive and raped and beaten. Now she is out for revenge and she wants the man who destroyed her family to die by her hand. What she she doesn’t know is that the man she believes killed her family was dead long before her family was butchered. Maya is shocked to discover that she has not one mate but three and all three are Cometedge warriors who want to wrap her in cotton and keep her safe.

Akaos Featherstone is a Cometedge who is very powerful and he, too, is on a mission: he wishes to find and kill the man who is misusing his gifts and creating havoc on Earth. Akaos has tracked him to Earth, now he just has to find him—something that should be fairly easy for one with his powers but things become a whole lot more complicated when he discovers his mate torn between protecting a mate who doesn’t believe she needs his protection and finding and killing the man his mate has sworn to see die at her own hand.

Trinity Blacio has long been a favorite of mine her Running In Fear series was phenomenal and I foresee this story being huge too.

The chemistry between Maya and Akaos was sizzling. Warden needs Maya to accept him possibly more than either Akaos or Tesuss and he has a lot of trouble controlling his possessiveness around her, which is a big turn off for Maya. The last thing she needs is not one but three dominant males in her life trying to stop her from getting her revenge. When the men offer to take down her enemy for her , it just makes her mad as she is strong willed and independent in her own right. However, when her enemy is revealed to be a lot more than she bargained for, she accepts the help of her mates but makes them promise not to expect her to totally back down.

I loved this book; it has enough shifters and vampires to thrill any paranormal reader and those of us that loved Running in Fear will no doubt follow this series with the same passion. For me, the plot started a little slow and I really didn’t get fully engrossed until the third chapter but as soon as I was hooked I was really hooked and couldn’t put my ereader down till I was done. Now I’m waiting for book two, so here’s hoping Ms. Blacio writes fast as I’ve got a feeling that Maya’s daughter Dee is about to give her mates a run for their money in book two.

Review:

After seeing Mr Willie’s dog, General Patton, running loose, Braedan grabs him so he can return him to Mr Willie. Mr Willie, a WWII veteran who has occasional flashbacks to WWII and Nazi spies, starts screwing extra boards across his gate in an attempt to capture Braedan. Mr Willie’s neighbors are happy to play along with his fantasies and while they can easily escape, they wait till another neighbor frees them. Normally Braedan has no problem playing along as he’s very fond of the old man, but today General Patton has bitten him and he’s running a little low on patience.

When Braedan hears Mr Willie talking to Devin he yells out for help as he’s been captured. Upon freeing Braedan, Devin offers take a look at his dog bite. After she gives him first aid, they share a passionate kiss. Later, they both attend the same costume party and Devin dresses as a submissive, complete with collar. The moment Braedan sees the collar around Devin’s neck he is furious as he mistakenly believes that Devin has a Dom and, as such, has no business making out with him earlier in the day. He demands to know who collared her. He can’t believe that a collared woman kissed him like that! Devin gives him a sassy retort that only serves to annoy him more. She leaves the party but doesn’t go straight home and is surprised to see an angry Braedan on her doorstep when she returns home, demanding to know where she has been. Braedan asks her to be his submissive and she agrees to try but tells him she makes no promises as she’s not sure how submissive she can be.

There are a few subplots. Mr. Willie’s son is trying to put him in a nursing home. Devin wants to confront her biological father who never wanted her. Braedan has to get over his mistrust of women as he thinks they are all for changing him and making him give up his career and lifestyle once they get their hooks in him.

Fast paced with enough subplots to keep the reader interested, I enjoyed this short story. I thought Devin’s reunion with her father could have been stronger and thought the way it went was a little unfair with Devin not really getting any resolution but since I don’t believe in a spoiler that’s all I’m prepared to say on the subject! The chemistry between Braedan and Devin was believable. My favorite character was actually Mr. Willie. His antics were enough to make anyone laugh—again, no spoilers will pass my lips. Read the book. Easy to read, and the BDSM scenes are very tame so it’s ideal if you want to try a BSDM novel but don’t want to dive in at the deep end.

The Locket (Rotherham Hall Mysteries #1) by Clair de Lune

Book Blurb :

Who is trying to kidnap Lady Aicia and why? When the de la Torre triplets rescued her from a kidnap attempt they did not expect to fall in love with her. She can’t understand why she loves three dominant men equally. Her handsome heroes have to foil several attempts to kidnap her before trapping the villain and discovering what he wants from her.
As she struggles with her feelings for them and her fear that she is barren the triplets come up with a plan to persuade her; one that involves pleasure for all four of them, convincing her and delivering a HEA

Lonely baker Annie Landon has given up on finding Mr. Right. What she needs is Mr. Right Here, Right Now, and this so-called “Greek God” she’s heard is on the rebound sounds exactly like the perfect kind of distraction. But picking up the bitter, workaholic is easier said than done…especially when he seems unreasonably determined to match her with someone else.

Can a woman looking for love—and the matchmaking god who wants her to find it with someone else—have a shot at a happy ending? May the best god—or mortal—win.

Review:

Rafael believes finding a wife will be next to impossible due to the secret he shares with his brothers, however, his mother has suggested that they attend this season’s balls in the hope that Rafael will find a suitable bride. While at Lady Beaumont’s ball, the triplets rescue Lady Alicia from three scoundrels who are trying to kidnap her. All three of the triplets are quite taken by the young widow and decide that they need to do two things first find out who is behind the kidnapping and why. Secondly, they need to convince Alicia that Rafael will make her a great husband.

The triplets made it their business to learn all the events Lady Alicia would be attending and be present at the next ball. There, yet again, another attempt to kidnap Alicia is again foiled by Rafael and his brothers. This prompts Antonia to suggest they invite Alicia, her family and a few others to a house party on their estate so that Alicia is away from the city. They tell Alicia’s family to tell no one as they want to avoid any further attempts to take Alicia. Lady Gwendoline does, however, tell Clarice Mountjoy, the daughter of one of her friends.

There are two more attempts to kidnap Lady Alicia before the ruffians are finally caught and a trap is set for the man behind the attempts. While they are waiting to spring the trap, all three men are courting Alicia and she starts to think she is wanton and will end up losing all three brothers, or worse, cause trouble between the three. Little does she know that their aim is to get her to love all three of them and that each encounter they have individually with her is shared with each other.

I loved this story. It was well written and it moved along at a fairly fast clip. It’s what I call an easy read as you just fall in to it and before you know it you’ve reached the last page. I found the chemistry between Alicia, Rafael, Antonio and Angel to be believable. I’m looking forward to the second installment in this series.

My only complaint is that even though it is clearly stated that Lady Gwendoline is Alicia’s Aunt Lady Gwendoline’s daughters  were always referred to as Alicia’s Nieces’ when they should have been referred to as her cousins but I could just be nick picking here.

I give a rating of 4/5 mostly due to the niece cousin thing as it did annoy me.

Tall, Dark, and Divine by Jenna Bennett

Book Blurb :

Eros, the Greek god of love, swore off the useless emotion after his ex ran off with some Viking godling. He’s lost all interest in his matchmaking business, Made in Heaven, until he spots the sweet baker who works across the street. Before she stirs his sullen heart, he’ll match her and get back to his ambrosia-laced wine in no time.

Review:

Eros has decided that Annie Landon and Harry Mitchell would be a good match and tries to get them together. When Annie leaves work a few minutes later than usual she just misses meeting Harry on the street, but Eros figures there will be other chances to get the two together.

Eros is still moping about his split with Psyche and is drinking his way through life. While he says human wine isn’t as mind numbing for him as ambrosia, he is still neglecting his duty of helping mortals find love. People aren’t falling in love, animals aren’t mating and Earth is slowly going to Hades in a hand basket, or at least that is what Airadne believes.  She asks Eros to join her and Britomartis for a night out at Dionysius’s bar.

Later that evening in a ladies room at a club run by Dionysius, Annie overhears two women talking about a Greek god called Ross and how he’s not over his ex and isn’t ready to move on, but that he needs to get laid and get over it. After hearing this, she decides he’s probably not Mr. Right but he could well be Mr. Right Now. When she meets Ross she is immediately drawn to him and they appear to be getting on like a house on fire.  The fact that Eros aka Ross also feels drawn to Annie scares him, so spotting Harry Ross, he tells Annie to go say hi to him. When Harry is rude to Annie and makes her cry, Eros feels he has a duty to go after Annie and make sure she gets home safely.

The next day Ross gets Harry to ask Annie out on a date which is a disaster, and Annie shows up on Ross’s doorstep intending to tell him off. Ross again offers her comfort but still is determined to get Harry to fall in love with Annie. He is so determined in his goal he gets out the dreaded arrows and shoots Harry. When Harry falls head over heels in love with Annie and tells Ross he plans to ask her to marry him, Ross finds he may have made a huge mistake that he can’t undo.

I loved this book from the first page till the last. The chemistry between Ross and Annie was electric and even the secondary characters were very active with their own subplots adding to the storyline. The story was so well written and flowed so smoothly I can’t rave about it enough. This is one of those books that you wish would never end as it has no flat spots. I wish book two in the series was already published as I’d be buying it. but alas I have to wait. Ms. Bennett has earned a place on my must-watch-for list.

I’m giving Tall Dark and Divine 5 out of 5 it’s one of the best books I’ve read this year.

Paging Doctor Wolf (1 Night Stand #117) by Rebecca Royce

Book Blurb :

Trauma surgeon Dr. Dallas Olson is too busy to date. Signing up with Madame Eve’s 1Night Stand service seems like a good plan, but his plans are sidelined when he’s nearly killed by a wolf attack. While still recovering and dealing with unexplainable side effects, he nevertheless agrees to meet the woman Madame Eve found for him.

Looking forward to her 1Night Stand date, werewolf shifter Cara Johnson is disappointed when it’s canceled unexpectedly. When Madame Eve lets her know that the man she should have met has suffered a wolf attack, Cara fears he’ll become a rogue werewolf himself during the next full moon. Unless she finds him and brings him home to her pack before that happens, her Alpha will have no choice but to kill him.

With only days left before the full moon, Cara and Dallas meet. He thinks it’s a one-night stand. She thinks it’s a mission to save his life. Madame Eve has other ideas.

Review:

When we first meet Dr Dallas Olson he is reading the email he has received from Madame Eve telling him she has arranged a date for him with Cara Johnson. He is rudely interrupted by a nurse who bursts into his office to tell him he has a trauma patient in ER who appears to have been attacked by wolves: She goes in to inform him that said wolves are inside the hospital and staff members are fleeing the scene in fear of their lives.

Dallas makes his way to tend to his patient only to find three rather large wolves circling the bed. Dallas grabs a broom to fend them off instead of waiting for animal control and is viciously attacked. He survives what he believes to be a savage wolf attack and his date with Cara is cancelled as it is going to take him a few weeks to recover. While recovering he notices a few strange changes in his body: his sense of smell is improving to the point that scents he normally didn’t even think about now are overpowering and disturbing to him. His bites appeared to be healing quicker than he would have thought. But what freaks him out the most is that he has the strong urge to run around outside naked!!!

Cara Johnson is summoned to her alpha’s home and ordered to go on a date with Dallas. She is also told she is to bring him back to pack land so they can monitor his first change and that he will be killed if he shows any signs of being rogue. The duty of explaining to the good doctor that he was actually attacked by werewolves has just fallen into her lap and she’s none too happy about it. Cara doesn’t object to going on a date with Dallas but she feels she’s not really going to be good at explaining what has happened to him without Dallas thinking she’s some kind of nutcase.

When these two meet sparks fly, and they are mated before any explanations have been given. Cara is really afraid that when Dallas learns the truth he will regret claiming her as his mate.

I liked this short story  which was very fast paced. The chemistry between Cara and Dallas was off the page and believable when we are talking werewolves. The only complaint I really have is I feel that the story could have been a little longer. I’d have liked to have read about the journey back to the pack and Dallas’s reaction to the alpha, but alas, that was not to be. There was a lot of room for expansion that seemed to go begging.

I do, however, realize it is a short story and it was a very satisfying read. I just feel with a few more words it could have been better, so for that reason I’m giving it 4 couples.
