A senior in high school, introvert Aislinn Munroe is satisfied living unnoticed…

Aislinn is doing the normal post-high school preparations to get into college. She’s getting ready for a life beyond senior year, and wonders where she’ll fit in to the world once she’s officially an adult. Though her curves are to kill for, she’s also smart and funny. However, she isn’t at all popular, which is just fine with her.

Aislinn’s introverted ways are about to be put to the test…

Content with hiding from the limelight, Aislinn doesn’t get bullied like so many other shy kids do—that is, as long as she keeps to herself. But is she really living the life she’s meant to? Or are there unforeseen adventures waiting to shake up her life in the near future?

When her brother comes home from college, he brings an unexpected houseguest…

Teagan Aldridge is a reformed party animal, ladies’ man, and bad boy. He’s the last person Aislinn thought would ever show her attention. But when Aislinn and Teagan become unlikely friends, he brings out a side of herself she never knew existed. She already knows she’s special, but sexy and adventurous? That’s a first.

Are their personalities too far apart, or will opposites attract, making them an unusual, but influential pair? When their vast differences collide, Aislinn is led to some unexpected.

The combination of the synopsis and that cute cover convinced me to give this book a shot. And I’m so happy I did!

Aislinn is a bit of shy girl, content being on her own, not going out much, not dating…She does have a crush on someone, has had it for quite some time. But according to her the boy is too far out of her reach. Besides her crush is dating miss super bitch, who is already set on making her school life hell. No need to give her more motivation.

When her brother, Connor, comes home from college he brings with him a buddy of his. One look at the stranger and Aislinn’s jaw drops open. The following weeks will prove to be quite interesting.

In this book Aislinn makes many changes, they don’t happen all at once or out of nowhere. There’s a slow build up to them, which I really appreciate. As I mentioned before there’s a miss bitch who’s nothing short of a bully. It was hard to read that Aislinn could stick up for others but when the bullying centered on her she would rather walk away, and many times that is exactly what she did. Luckily she has a best friend who has her back.

Connor’s buddy, Teagan, isn’t at all what I had expected. Despite his reputation as a player he is really good for Aislinn. His presence in the Munroe house brings many excitements, one is in the form of a ginormous dog. Overall Teagan is kind and respectful, he’s a bit quiet as well which makes it kind of difficult to read him at times. That’s all part of the allure I guess.

Too bad Connor doesn’t have any of those qualities. This guy can be a real pain in the butt. As he’s a brother I’ll give him a pass on many inconsiderate moments. But even that has a limit. My opinion of him goes up and down throughout the story and in the end I’m all kinds of twisted in them. I can only imagine how Connor himself must be feeling.

Despite all of the heavy stuff I really love this story, it’s cute and funny. It portrays brother sister relationships perfectly as well as how fragile a first relationship can be. All combined I would say Pivotal Moments is a prefect summer read. At least, that’s the vibe I got while reading.

I’m going to rate this read 4,5 couples. Yes, this read made Trinity Hanrahan a new favorite author of mine and I can’t wait to read the other installments in this series. Please tell me we won’t have to wait long for them.

Nithya, a vivacious, intelligent and driven college senior has always known what she has wanted: a successful career in medicine and the love of her family. She’s even come to terms with the idea of an arranged marriage, a tradition her conservative Indian family has held up for thousands of years.

When a night of partying puts her on a collision course with danger, Nithya’s entire life changes.

Enter James St. Clair, the smart, challenging and heartbreakingly handsome American.

As Nithya and James fall in love, she questions the future she and her parents have always planned. Now, Nithya has a choice to make: become a doctor and a good Indian bride, or step away from her family and centuries of culture to forge her own path.

The decision she comes to takes her on a journey that transforms how she sees her future, her relationships with loved ones, and how she learns to put herself back together when even her best-laid plans fall apart

Nithya’s life seems to be all planned out. She will graduate, with straight A’s, will then proceed to become a doctor and will marry an Indian boy of her parents preference. Nithya is actually quite alright with that planning, until she meets James.

James, the all American boy with the green eyes who saved her butt more than once. The boy she’s growing closer and closer to till their bond goes beyond the fences of just being friends. And here’s where troubles arise. She can’t go any further with James, it will bring shame on her family, she will be talked about and what chances does their relationship have anyway? No, she has to put a stop to..whatever is going on between them.

Funny how the heart never seems to listen to the brain.

First of all, let me say that I love the little graphics in between the chapters, really speaks to the creative side of me. On to the actual story. I really liked reading about Nithya and James. The story portrays well how much Nithya struggles with finding a balance between the American and Indian in her. The side of her that wants to be free and love who she wants. Then there’s the other side of her that wants to do what’s expected of her, follow tradition and please her parents.

Besides her best efforts she’s going to disappoint people no matter what she decides. Through out the story Nithya finds out that it’s okay. As long as she can honestly say that she followed her heart, it’s okay. No matter what the future brings her.

We only get to read from Nithya point of view but you can really feel both of their struggles and frustrations. I do wish I could have read the story of James’s point of view as well. And although the story deals with a lot of emotional drama it has its super sweet moments too that makes it all seem worthwhile.

The story is pretty realistic and I liked the writing style of this author, I’m really curious to what her future books will be about. Maybe it will be a follow up on Nithya and James’s story. Either way, I can’t wait.
