Below the Surface may be the fifth book in the series, but It can be read  standalone. However once you have read this book, you definitely will be hooked and want to read the rest of the series to be up to date with the gang.

Witness series revolves around a group of tight knit cops and their ladies.  Lena is a honorary member of the gang who came into their lives three years ago with secrets to hide. Working for Sam’s bar saved her from  her past  and allowed her to survive .

They are her people  even though she doesn’t reveal her secrets, she can trust them but she never can’t stop looking over shoulder and wondering if her past will come back to haunt her.  Leo is not someone she wants to meet again.  He held her captive and broke her.  She doesn’t want to relive the experience again.

Until her past and present collide when Lena ‘s little sister is taken prisoner  to tempt Lena back. As Leo isn’t done with her and he doesn’t want his captives getting away.  So she must turned to the one person who can help.

The one person who wants to destroyed Leo but hasn’t been able till now.

Jeff  is one of the gang who  had an interest on Lena ever since he first spotted her. But he holding his own pain and doesn’t make a move as he doesn’t do relationships. As he been warned not to bring his own mess and secrets into his life by the others.  Until he realises she the key to his case and  he needs her.

Below the Surface, maybe confronting and hard to deal with at times, however it is beautiful  story. Both Jeff and Lena  battle  their emotions and thoughts through out this book as they face obstacles together and individually. They are tough but  yet they are fragile . As this will take you places that make your imagination work over drive and it ain’t all sunshine and rain
